How about a report on the various shows you attend for us poor deprived souls that are stuck on the old homestead for various reasons?

You shouldn't have been a naughty girl I was gated for a whole term when i was at school Hope you can be let off for the South of England Show Heathfield is a one day show which includes horses, cattle, sheep and all the usual attractions . we spent most of our time watching horse and cattle classes, they were all turned out well Its surprising how many people you meet that you haven't seen for a long time, get a dig in my ribs if talk too long Lad who works part time for us had his two old fergie tractors there so we dutifully admired them, near by was a thrashing machine being driven by steam engine only thing missing was a few mice and rats I do so enjoy a nice greasy burger followed by ice cream, OH is very understanding and waits patiently ready to clean ketchup of my face and shirt, muttering " who needs kids". Looked at several clothe and plant stands but the prices were too dear. Not a big range of machinery but enough tractors to keep kids happy All in all had a good day (read better than I write )

My DS went to the grasslands event at the bath and west on a freebie ticket and said it was good. Sorry, I couldn't get much more info out of him. We always/only go to the Honiton show in August. A great little show and not overwhelmed by traders.

Got back yesterday from Devon County, weather was great bit chilly at night, but at least it stayed dry. To much non farming away from the sheep & cattle corner but that's what the public seem to like. What a turn out, they had to shut the gates on Saturday, (health & safety)to many people, Friday late afternoon was gridlock with the show & bank holiday traffic. Good show though but nothing to compare to Royal Cornwall in a couple of weeks now that is a great show.

Missed you at Devon, Grawley - hopefully we can meet at Royal Cornwall ? How did you get on?
Am really feeling knackered today - let the three how heifers out mid-morning into the small nursery paddock that has now finally been vacated by the last mare and foal ansd they had a fine old hoolie out there! I then let the cob mare in with them as she's not due til the end of June and it was funny watching the heifers with her - she's used to Blues but they hadn't been out with her before now, although they seen her everyday in the yard.
Just hoping we can get first cut all finished before R C !! Think we'll start cutting this evening, so should be OK.

No photos, my OH didn't have the camera handy whilst I was in the ring, the only photos I've got are of the breed champion & reserve.

Have you not been before, it's my favourite, our sheep steward is there when we arrive, show us our pens, helps us unload & get the sheep settled & is there when ever we want him, all the 3 days, he's so good we've actually made him an Affiliated Member of the HDSBA. It's a great show with a lovely atmosphere.
