I've managed to get chat to work on Facebook this afternoon and had a natter with Bob. He tells me he is still swollen but it's not as bad. He is ploughing on with his book (no pun intended) but his fingers are swollen and his spelling is not so good. He did say that he has voice software but the spelling is playing up on that too (very clever this technology stuff). Anyway he seems in good spirit and is just hoping his printer stands up to the work.

All best, Bob and I hope all is going OK with the book - what a great idea and I hope we can all get to read it one day.
Hope you're keeping warm and glad to hear the swellings are more manageable at the moment for you.

I've just been speaking to Bob about his trip to the hospital. His blood test came back all ok, no deterioration, but the Parkinsons is pushing out more and he has the start of diabetes. On the sleep apnea his heart only stops twice now but they say he has a strong heart and his stats have come right up - blood/oxygen 96%, so looking good although the hospital have said not to be complacent as he has been caught out before. They are not prescribing meds for the diabetes yet as they don't want to burden him with anything else as they think the meds are part of the reason he is tired. He tells me the nurses are brill and the chap taking the bloods was so good he never felt a thing even though he was talking whilst doing it.
A big, big thankyou to Will who transported Bob to the hospital.

That result should encourage you Bob, and of course this morning's weather . Lovely sunshine for a while. As Theoldfarmer says, it'll soon be spring, and lighter nights... Take care, and regards to Maureen too... Matt

I'm taking the liberty of copying and pasting Footsfitter's post from BFF on here:
Finally made it down to see Bob on Saturday, although nearly didn't have to after that comprehensive update!!
Bob & Maureens new bungalow is nicely situated in an enclosed gated area that keeps traffic out, the only downside is that it would of been handier if theirs had been one of those backing onto the parking area.
When I arrived, Tiny was beached on the bed snoring his head off in a post lunch snooze!! Maureen was under strict instructions from bob before lying down, to wake him on my arrival, instead I suggested we have a sit down for a while so over a coffee I learnt a bit more about Mr Mayor and Maureen meeting, that was a nice half hour during which it was obvious why this pair think so much of one another! I also learnt a bit more about their movements prior to his accident, then our comfy chat was eclipsed by this giant yettie like shape appearing into the living room Bob settled down and we had quite a good chat, interrupted only by Maureen dispensing coffee, I had brought the workshops entire stock of reading material for bob to read (arable contractors & farming guides, a few FW's and a couple of classic plant's!) so he was pleased with that.
Considering its been five months since I last saw him, bob is in surprisingly good fettle, but he is still at the mercy of the constant niggling pain which is getting to him at times, he has blown quite a bit more which unfortunately is the nature of the beast he is dealing with, but with help from the medical team & Maureen he is handling the sores & skin problems, and as stockslave mentioned, his sleep, or lack of it, is a big problem. By around 4.30pm it was time to go. It had been a very worthwhile trip to see Bob and Maureen again, their white cat whose name I can't remember, and the Fish tank with the "supplied by BFF" label on the front!!
See you both again soon.
Best rgds
Peter
