Went to this small piece of coppice woodland on the farm the other day to see if the Bluebells were in flower and found this, not quite a carpet, but still a good show.

At a similar stage here, they do seem very eye-catching this year. I wonder if they are able to grow at lower temperatures than some plants and so have managed to rather dominate more than usual this year?

I wonder if they are able to grow at lower temperatures than some plants and so have managed to rather dominate more than usual this year? I think they're normally severely restricted in growth by the lack of moisture in woodland, and so did very well last year. This year's growth and flowering is mostly based on last year's stored energy. P.S. I think it must be Sod's Law of Spelling, or something, in that everyone pronounces the flowers "anenomes", whereas I'm pretty sure the dictionary spelling is "anemones".
