They were heather burning for first time widely yesterday, and with little wind, the smoke hung about at sunset and combined with patchy fog in the valleys.

First time out this year and just went straight up for a look towards the coast where snow flurries were threatening.

Stopped here on way back from Malton, but it wasn't easy as the launch site is quite wooded requiring a 45 degree ascent and return. Then I had to go directly towards sun and couldn't see it properly. Even though it's less than half a mile across the valley. Then youtube decided to block the tune I added, even though I used it before. So the tune is their suggestion not what I'd have chosen. It's still unclear who is paying for all this, best guess seems to be football money but even that seems implausible so could it be Arab oil cash? Note field of white van men who arrive daily (behind trees) and the green two story portacabin block for offices and cafe etc. It is remarkably well screened from all sides unless you can fly over

Google claims the owner is Steve Gibson, unknown to me but industrialist and owner of Middlesborough FC, and reputed to be worth £195 million. Should have a bit of cash left over to run the house once it's built.

I heard that from another source this morning too - must say I don't really understand why anyone would want the expense and trouble of running such a place, historically they have always become something of a millstone round the neck. It is going to state of the art with ground source heat etc etc so some ongoing costs might be less than you'd think. There may be a commercial element certainly a lot of people would enjoy an excuse to visit as part of a function such as wedding receptions.

Made a timelapse of fog wafting about this morning, which is interesting but it took 15 minutes to make 15 seconds so didn't get much else - not happy with it really but uploaded anyway. Fog will often do this effect much like waves lapping on a shore. It will also sometimes pour out of a valley or over a hill like a slow motion waterfall.
