Winter sunshine often makes the best photos I find - today was nice and a few things in Malton caught my eye. Sheep shed loading area Inside sheep shed (store lambs) Original outdoor Market place. There's a standing stone among the cars where they used to tie bulls up - still there. Malton has numerous quaint little corners and shops. Charles Dickens used to stay here and it's thought the place influenced some of his novels especially Christmas Carol! Inside tends to be just like any other tacky pre-Christmas jumble. Through the summer this junction is usually stupidly busy but to me traffic seems inexplicably less recently even on decent days. Until the dual carriageway A64 bypass was built early 70s I think, this and the crossroads above was a hideous bottleneck for traffic from York and Leeds heading to Scarborough.

Guisborough Christmas tree being installed today. This seems to require at least 8 men and several vehicles

Dead plum tree felled and tidied, with a bit of trunk left for climbing plants This quince tree is suffering from honey fungus, but is still alive, and will flower in the spring before dying completely - and then being logged up. The splitter on its mobile stand is a really handy thing. Split logs from yesterday's conifer have bright purple/pink heartwood. Close-up of one of the logs

Yesterday was just about the only bright and cheerful day this month so had a little zoom about Some of the sheep are mine! I wonder if you could drop feed blocks if it was snowy
