They are very early, RGSP - usually at least end of April here and we expected them in May in the Hebs. Fantastic scent. Yes they are normally May flowering here too, however I took this on 15th April 2012 which was after that very warm March (then cold wet April, but they were still two weeks early)

I struggle to understand the physiology of these opening even before shortest day? If they can open in the first week in December they must have been well advanced in November - which was rather mild everywhere - so why does that not happen more widely? Here we still don't see any signs of 'spring' - the first being crocus or snowdrops. www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4757636

Some quite big daffies open here and also a clump of white bluebells in a sheltered spot.
