I'm not very successful when it comes to trees, but containers are great for bringing colour and salads near my door

Only just noticed this thread.
Container advantages: 1. Fill them with soil which suits the plant 2. Tender things can often be put in in shed or greenhouse over the worst of winter 3. Keeping slugs and other pests at bay is easier. 4. You can put the containers anywhere convenient.
Container snags 1. (and this is a big one) Watering. In summer thirsty plants will need watering at least once a day and sometimes twice. The plants will probably survive a missed watering or two, but they won't like it. 2. Over the winter, containers can freeze right through and kill plants, whereas the same plants in soil would be OK. 3. Some plants really do like an unrestricted root run, and while they'll survive in a container, they frequently get that horrid, tortured, bonsai look. 4. Bigger containers are often better than small ones, but they are expensive, and need a lot of muscle to move them around.

Container Gardening also need some basic soil testing As we all know that quality of the soil plays a vital role in making good plant productivity. So, for that you need to identify the features of the soil to determine its ability to support your plants growth and makes better productivity. Soil Fertilizer Test and Soil Testing Laboratory enables you to judge the soil suitability, providing you with data for informed decision making and planning for the next crop.

The very crucial advantage of container gardening is that it is awesome for the beginners. If things don't work out and the plants bite the dust, nobody needs to fix and re-seed the grass. Indeed, you won't require a garden for it. and its main drawback is that It limits the size of your growing space to the size of your container.
