Hi everyone. sorry for the method of getting to know you all, and please don't switch off until you have read this in full. Oh no I hear you say, another one, yes I am a metal detector nut but with a difference. I belong to a group that metal detects for charity. We have raised over £7000 for the Air Ambulance. We are the only UK group to be sponsored by 'Search magazine' and we have recently donated a lost Crowland Abbey seal found by our group back to the abbey. We also charge our members a £10 per day fee, for searching, £5 goes to charity, £5 to the landowner and we have 30 members. We have our own 'field Marshall's' who work to ensure we search professionally and fairly, everything found is reported to you, the farmer. so, the reason for this bold introduction is to kindly ask if you would support us raise even more money for charity by allowing us to search your land. By agreement and you can limit the attendance should you wish. We can provide references from land owners so you can see we are serious and honest. we are currently looking for land to search in the Nottingham, LI ncoln, Worksop areas if any one can be so kind as to assist. well many thanks for at least reading this and I hope you can help us. Kind regards. Robin1

Sorry 'Joyce' me and technology are not great friends ha. any area is good, we don't mind where we go we are all so passionate about our hobby. I know some people have had bad experiences with metal detectorists and I can fully understand there hesitance but we have done some great work work charity and helped some farmers in the process, last week we found three missing tractor parts for a farmer in Lincoln and saved him £1500 that was very gratifying. So anyone who can help us we would welcome it. Can be anywhere really. For it's about history and charity, two great subjects. Thanks again.

Hi Joyce. ive had an email saying I've now been admitted as such great thank you. can I. Ask you for some advice, how do I. Get my request across to people without getting people annoyed or thinking it's a spam. obviously I'd like to ask farmers direct as possible but don't want to offend anyone (or get chucked off already) can you advise the best way and forum to use. If you can it would be appreciated. many thanks

It's probably more effective to meet face to face only don't appear too pushy. Obviously it would usually go down quite well if you 'look' like a country type and maybe had some farmy items you found already! We've had a club here doing it a couple of times and it was all quite interesting, but they mainly found halfpennies which had escaped through holey pockets. They were very good about parking where suggested, and even though not asked for they each put a few pounds each in an envelope which could not be refused

It would be interesting if you wanted to share some pics with us and anyone who looks in - Go to "Main Boards", 3rd board down "Pictures" - 2015 Photo thread farmingdiscussions.proboards.com/thread/5701/2015-photo-thread We are going through the alphabet, albeit loosely May I & J - only one day to go, then June K & LYou're also very welcome to join the diary-like "Good morning" in the Club House, members only section.... or make a new thread of course. and There's a Classified section, scroll down page, where there are some interesting sale items and you can advertise there. Suggest you ask for pm's as not a good idea to put phone number or email there.
