Thank you everyone - appreciated!
Just to balance the books a bit, a heifer we sold a few months ago looks to be a non-breeder - she was AI'd a couple of times and now has an enlarged bladder - our Genus technician reckons their AI guy accidental nicked the bladder - can happen with the best of technicians apparently. But whatever/however, we have said we'll stand behind the heifer and will give the money back as long as they return her in otherwise good order. We sold her cheaply because she's from a line we don't want to pursue and they wanted a nice natured BB they could breed commercials from and she fitted their bill nicely, so it's a pity all round.
They only have a couple of beasts and the father also runs a halfway house for folk with mild disabilities and so all the blokes he acts as carer for interact a lot with the animals. Chaffinch is a great favourite as she's so people friendly (typical Blue!), so it's going to be quite a wrench for them I think...
We've nothing even close to that one in value etc to swap her with either...
Oh well, that's breeding stock for you!!

Is she definitely damaged so much she won't breed even to a bull? Just asking because a Dexter heifer I would have loved to have kept didn't take to AI so she went away to a Dexter breeder with her own bull and produced a lovely calf eventually.

Well, I've had a fantastic day at Edenbridge and Oxted Show. The friend's grandson took third in every class (which he was a little disappointed with having cleared the board at Kent) with his Jersey's, but I still think third is pretty respectable. However, his Dad swept the board with his Holsteins, getting the Championship and Supreme Champion, so well done to them both.
There was some really fantastic stock there so well done to everyone, the judges must have had a really hard time.
The weather was brilliant, couldn't have asked for a better day and the hotdogs and onions dripping in tomato sauce were delectable and just to prove I'm not always a mucky pup, I managed to devour it without the ketchup dripping down my front (something pretty unheard of).
Came home to find that o/h had done everything except the afternoon checks (as he says he wouldn't know if anything was wrong and I have to agree with him), hence me being able to type this up now.
Well that's this year's day off over and finished with and I look forward to next year's. ;D

I thought I'd resurrect this thread and although it's only February, I'm sure some of you are already making plans for this years shows and at the rate time is flying it won't be long before the first of them appears on the horizon.
So are you selecting your teams already and which shows are you aiming for? You all did extremely well last year and I'm looking forward to a repeat performance this year.
