At the moment everything is at a standstill because no one can get hold of the other party (surprise surprise) - doesn't even look like he's reported the accident to his insurance. I am waiting for accident exchange to contact Sun Alliance now, and if that does not yield a satisfactory outcome, I will be straight onto Motability to dig out the bloke and his mother. I am not best impressed at the moment.

I hope you dont have him comming back saying you forced him to sign the document under duress, thats could be possible when the pressure comes on if he wasnt insured. Was their car a write off? Poor woman if his mother has no means of transport.

Poor woman if his mother has no means of transport. I don't think he could try the line of signing under duress because he had two mates with him and I was by myself. If he wanted to he could have told me to f*** off. Their car was not a write off, I feel sorry for the mother because it's not her fault, but then she shouldn't have let him drive it.

No, we have established that he was being truthful about the ownership of the car, however he was reluctant to report the crash - his insurance had to go to him rather than the other way around! Anyway, we are progressing slowly - I have a courtesy car coming this morning - quite looking forward to it,an Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 Tdi Sport

My advice to anyone involved in an accident, phone the police immediately, regardless of whether it is minor or not.
When I had a head on collision everyone assumed it was my fault, even the tone of the policeman I spoke to suggested he thought that because I was a young driver it was my fault. A quick police investigation concluded the other chap was in the wrong, and he was done for dangerous driving. He also had a serious headache; his skull had broken his own windscreen... wear your seatbelt.

I've finally found my way from BFF to here! I had the misfortune earlier today of being involved in a head on smash on a single track road near home. As I know the road well, I had slowed right down for a bend, but coming the other way was an idiot going far too fast for the road. I managed to stop, but he couldn't, skidded and ploughed straight into me. My car is drivalble but probably a write off with significant damage to the wing and bonnet. The other guy admitted responsibilty on the spot, saying that he was going too fast and didn't know the road. I made him put this in writing, and filmed him with my camera phone doing so! He then said that it as his mother's motability car. I couldn't believe it - what was he doing taking his mates for a spin in a car paid for by the taxpayer for the benefit of a disabled person? I have been looking up on the net, and it seems that this could be a complete misuse of a motability car, but where does that leave him in terms of being insured. I have no doubt that he is insured, because a motability car can have two named drivers apart from the main beneficiary. But if he is not using it for the benefit of his mother, as was the case, could the insurance be void? In any case, it looks like motability car misuse is in the same class as benefit fraud. What do you reckon? he's just got to say he was getting her some milk.then he's in the clear

Hi and a belated welcome. Glad no one was hurt. If he is comp an ANY vehicle and as permission from the keeper of the vehicle he is insured thgrid party only. Regardless if it's a mobility vehicle or not as mobilty vehicles do not have different laws or rules governing their insurance. However, as to getting the mobilty car repaired on that insurance he will struggle if he is not named on teh policy. Your vehicle shoud be repaired at his cost
