Every time I open a program a message comes up." Are you sure you want to move this file to the recycle bin?". Saying no doesn't work,also if yo u correct a mistake in sentence, backspace will delete everything back to that point. example-- if I put a in between "in and sentence" all would disappear.

Have you done a malware scan recently OB? It might be worth a go. You could also try restoring to a date previous to when the problems started. Other than that my techie knowledge leaves a lot to be desired Hopefully someone else might have more of a clue.

My first suspicion is you have a key sticking, like Alt, Ctrl or delete (!) If it is some sort of virusy thing the best thing to try is Malwarebytes. If it won't let you run it (do you want to send to recycle bin ? ) try starting in safe mode then run it. Usually this is done by tapping F8 as it boots - just restart again to get out of safe mode

Thank you both for your invaluable help,4Wd was right,toast crumbs in the key board a good blow out with the compressor cured it. Did think of of a squirt of wd40 which is used on most things here regards rob
