I refer to the message I put out recently, see below. I now have the crime number for this. WC3/096210/11.
Phillip
On Wednesday evening one of our members who lives in Fittleworth suffered their 4th recent burglary when an out building was broken into, a chain saw, electric drill, strimmer and a tool set were stolen. Our member heard the break in and called police, but they arrived to late.
Firstly ensure that all out buildings are made as secure as possible, then be aware that they are likely to revisit about 6 weeks later when they assume that you have replaced the goods.
As yet no crime number has been obtained, if you have to call the police to report any crime insist that they give you the crime number there and then.

101 Non-Emergency Number Sussex Police have launched a new number providing people with a new way to get in touch about non-emergency issues. 101 is now the main number to call Sussex Police when it is less urgent than 999.
As well as making the police more accessible to communities, it is intended that 101 will reduce the number of inappropriate 999 calls. There will be a single flat charge of 15p per call, regardless of the duration, time of day, mobile or landline.
You should call 101 to report crime and other concerns that do not require an emergency response. For example:- • Stolen cars • If you suspect drug dealing/taking • To give us information about crime in your area • To speak to your Local Policing Team
In an emergency, always call 999 when you need an immediate response, For example: • Because a crime is in progress • Someone suspected of a crime is nearby • When there is danger to life • When violence is being used or threatened101 will not: • Change the way in which we respond to non emergency calls • Connect people to a large national call centre • Result in calls receiving a lower priority than if 999 had been called for a non emergency issue
101 should not be used to report: • Fly tipping • Noise pollution • Stray dogs These should initially be reported to your local council

Welly theft sounds mildly amusing until you realise how many were stolen - and that they were a very expensive brand. I suppose they'll keep popping up on ebay or boot sales for years if not caught.

Please note I get crime reports from various counties and I have to say there appears to be a mini epidemic of electric fence power units being stolen, please be aware and may I suggest that you mark yours in some identifiable way. Taken from the Suffolk Horsewatch report: At very least you should mark your energiser unit with your postcode by either engraving or using an indelible marker pen or paint. It is possible to purchase a specialist box, which may be locked and electrified. To deter vandals and opportunistic thieves, the box can be connected to the energiser, making the energiser box itself live. Access to the box is gained using an insulated key, so you don't have to give yourself a shock every time you wish to open it.
