Which word processing software do you use and which 'Office' package do you run? Like most people I guess I used to use the microsoft package that came with the PC and then bought the full 'Office Version' originally (quite a few years ago now though) More recently I downloaded and used 'Open Office' and often recommended it to others. However, since my latest PC (which I have had for a while now) and updating Open Office when due I have had nothing but trouble with it, crashing mid document, freezing etc etc... just impossible to work with. Apparently OpenOffice is longer being developed by its creators. So recently I have changed over to Libre (Created by the developers of Open Office ) www.libreoffice.org/So far, so good - No problems at all. Included in the package: Writer: A word processor, its equivalent of Microsoft Word Calc: A spreadsheet program, its equivalent of Excel Impress: Presentation software, its equivalent of Microsoft PowerPoint Base: A database, its equivalent of Microsoft Access Draw: A design program, especially useful for flowcharts Math: A simple equation tool. All open source so all free to download. Interested to know what others use though.....

OH has just set up Libre for me - it looks a bit complicated - too many choices, so might have to have a tutorial! Thanks for the info Quadbod - at least I can open someone's short stories which didn't work with Open Office

I always seem to learn the minimum to get going.... the problem being that I 'find' how to do things but I have probably gone via quite a complicated route...
Did you use Open Office before? And had you been experiencing problems with it? I must say I changed to Libre through necessity but so far I'm very pleased with it.

I always seem to learn the minimum to get going.... the problem being that I 'find' how to do things but I have probably gone via quite a complicated route... That seems to be my general way of learning then to redo it can be a problem ;D Only used it to open things, then found I couldn't read a Docx or something so OH updated it - that seemed OK, but when read your post here thought I might as well go the whole hog Wondered it it might help my art work
