BallaBriggs has won the Grand National under Jason McGuire. A great win and really nice to see the McCain name back up there. Trained by Donald McCain, son of Ginger McCain (of Red Rum fame).

Horrible race, they went too fast - as always - too many horses..
Thank God I don't breed for NH racing - it would break my heart if one of mine ended up under a green tarpaulin at Aintree after all my efforts getting them born safe and sound.
As for Jason Maguire belting poor BALLABRIGS so many time on the run in, I hope he gets a serious ban, whip happy little sh*t. Horse was almost on verge of collapse as he crossed the line.
The Grand Nasty does horse racing no favours whatsoever.

I always watch the GN but thought they definitely went really faster today, was that because of the dry ground I'm never sure whether the whip is making contact or just swishing either, but if it was making contact on the run in then definitely BAD Is it usual to miss out some of the usual fences second time round and for the winning jockey to dismount

Maguire was most defnitely making contact and the horse was close to collapse as they crossed the line, hence wh he jumped off to go and get water buckets to slosh over the horse. That was a punishing race today in these conditions.
They missed the fences because there were dead horses on the landing side - something they are now required to do for Health and Safety rules.

Too fast, too many horses, didn't enjoy it at all this year, also think some horses aren't up to the job and shouldn't be allowed to run
