Fryup Heather. Most of the Esk Valley's remaining dairy farms are below. One has succumbed recently (spot the docks). Their strength is they are all related and help each other out, they are also from a long line of devout Methodists which may or may not have something to do with it. The cows and farms are far more than a business put it that way. Fryup is a rather odd 'double' dale called Great and Little Fryup. The dividing range has been eroded back but there's s till a substantial 'island' called Fryup Heads. Both halves have some good land but are best suited to grass due to various drainage issues. Some of these go back to effects of the last ice age. There was a large glacial moraine just downstream as ice pushed in from what's now the North Sea. Fryup was part of a quite large lake as a result. Where Fryup Dale joins the main Esk Valley there are examples of what seem to be Kettle Holes - another ice age feature. ( www.landforms.eu/cairngorms/kettle%20hole.htm ) Fryup is a name of Scandinavian origin which causes much amusement and many not-very-funny jokes The video also clearly shows the continual slow slumping landslides as bit by bit the high moors slide into the dale and are carried away. Just below the take off point a large liquid slide made an awful mess in 2007.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Tubular Bells was blocked for copyright but seems OK. They just give a warning adverts might/will appear.

I prefer these views to those from inside a metal cylinder hurtling through the air

Does it worry you to send quite a few quids worth of kit out of sight through the fog?
I know they have a 'return to base' feature but it isn't quite like being able to see where it is....

I wouldn't do it anywhere I wasn't 100% sure nothing is in the way - that was straight up from just by the house and very early morning so almost no risk of sudden low-flying jets or whatever. You can be fairly confident as to where it is as the phone app screen shows it 'live' on google maps.

Odd question maybe.... Can you tell me what font that is? I spotted a house sign a long while back using that font which I really liked but haven't been able to find it anywhere.
