Cauliflowers are rarely imported, and are usually nice (if you like that sort of thing {with a strong blue cheese sauce of course}). Broccoli is another matter: proper English purple sprouting broccoli is jolly good in season, but most of the stuff offered in restaurants and supermarkets is what used to be called Calabrese - an inferior vegetable compared with real Broccoli, and in my opinion (and our sheeps' opinion) totally inedible if it's spent 2 or 3 weeks in transit sheds and containers having been imported from Italy or Spain, or even North Africa.
