Cowslips just starting, there weren't any locally but some ten years ago I started a few colonies from seeds gathered to the south of the moors. You can simply pick a few heads when they are starting to die off, don't need to be 100% dry - set them out on paper indoors and crush up to separate later. They need light and a cold spell to germinate - so simply drop a pinch on a bare spot about New Year. They like an place where grass is suppressed due to being dry for example. Otherwise not overly fussy. You might barely see them until year two or three. Don't attempt to separate they like each others company and will readily self seed if happy.

Pellet boiler clean up. This isn't mine the builder got it from ebay and yesterday was investigating what needs doing inside before it could be installed in his house. The 'dampers' are controlled by a small motor, it had got so tarred up in the chamber that the arm from the motor had broke free so it was only running at about 30% - but the previous owner doesn't seem to have been aware of that and was using until the day it was taken out. Otherwise it's not bad for £240, that includes the stainless flue would have been more than that on its own for sure, also a separate hopper would hold about 1/2 ton, no accumulator tank though. His father in law is familiar with them and can source a few other bits like gaskets need replacing. The sooty chimney indicates it wasn't running properly.

Colourful if rather messy The wallflowers are rather small I don't know if it's due to being dry, usually they will do 2 or 3 years so could get bigger. Once before had them along here and they flowered most of the winter.

A lot of effort has gone into breeding "compact" (and relatively expensive) wall flowers for modern gardens. Nasty measly nesh little things I say!

Scree slope dropping steeply into Douthwaitedale, part hidden by trees is the New Ravenswick Hall England largest new house. Work has been halted but to be fair it's largely done.

Not the most exciting bluebell shot taken this morning. They are only just coming to their best here but it won't last long if next week is warm as well as still too dry. So really ought to try to get to one of the better sites nearby.

Drone shot from late yesterday looking down Rosedale over Ironstone Mining remains (Kilns at East Mines). You can see how burnt off and dry it is but the orangey setting sun enhances that.
