I don't know where the term "lazy beds" came from. Anything less lazy than carting seaweed and shell sand from the beach in baskets on ones back I cannot imagine. I've been visiting the Hebrides since about 1958, and have noticed the reduction in lazybeds, but I can't say I'm surprised.

Potatoes come in sacks on the ferry or are grown on the machair where tractors can be used. I've got a print of my first ones which started the now overgrown garden. I'll ask DH to scan it for me if someone will put it on here - I'm too B lazy to learn just now!
