I've been looking for venues for my wedding next year and the initial euporia has fast been replaced by utter depression at the options available to us. In my head, I'm picturing a barn/cowshed/stable (not necessarily converted) - basically anywhere we could have some tables and chairs and a bit of food and drink and dancing. Failing that, a bit of land we could put a marquee on would also be good.
We're based in London, but as I'm originally from the country I'd like a more rural setting, ideally somewhere within travelling distance for London-based friends. Any land for camping on would also be a massive bonus so people could stay over without breaking the bank would be a huge bonus too.
All of the 'official' wedding venues I've found are either too restrictive in terms of forcing there own caterers, corkage etc on you, or they cost thousands and thousands of pounds which we just don't have. All we want is a personal, no-fuss day that we can make our own without being dictated to by money-grabbers.
I'm getting to the end of my tether with it and just thought I'd try my luck on here in case anyone has anything that sounds suitable or knows of anyone else who could help? Any assistance at all would be HUGELY appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, Lynn has just pointed me to your post. We are a working farm in Kent, setting up as a wedding venue at moment. We are currently landscaping our field and lake from it just being a grazing field to something a bit more special but still keeping it very much a country working farm setting, we do have a barn but it won't be ready for use for a while. We will be offering the facility as either a blank canvas or as a package with choice of marquees etc etc as we have joined up with local hirers to be able to do this. If you are registered on facebook then we have a page on there this is the link, www.facebook.com/#!/pages/The-House-Meadow-at-Worsenden-Farm/141573839228935. As you will see it is a bit of a mess at the moment as doing lote of work in the mud but if you look at the pics of it in the summer you will get a better idea of what it can look like, and we have a big planting plan about to take place with wild flower meadows, more trees, woodland area etc etc. When did you need it for as we will be offering reduced rates this year whilst it is still in its infancy, our website will be up and running in a month or so as well. If this is of any interest please let me know. Heather
