Finally in, same every year those that are born out form a gang that will not follow cows as they wait nearer and nearer buildings, yet some that may have been less than a week old when they went out remember the way home, the cows just bolt home leaving those behind, one finished up being dragged out of the dyke with a rope and teleporter and I left it on to guide it home. The calf came out of the quietest black hereford but her last two have been so wild so on the cull list Attachments:

Heifer dropped on her own, one left, wasn't worried too much about this one as it's well grown, a smaller fatter one left now, and then nothing till end Feb supposedly, which sounds a good way away but it's really not now is it? Only just over two and mated to my big blonde, so pleased. Heifers mother is Normande x Red Poll which is a lovely cross, still going strong at 13. Attachments:

Looks like a lively one ('wick' we say here) I'm watching a heifer due 18th still showing very little bag but I'm sure she's in calf. Putting her in calving box today I think.
There's already a cow in there not due till about 1 Jan but I fancy will have twins at least a week early. I was just checking this morning in case I actually served her (AI) three weeks earlier in which case she'd be over time but if I did,the paper got lost and she's not on my chart. (happens sometimes!) Always something going on once the calving starts again.

Found a load of pics on an old phone from last year. Was a little wetter then, had a heap of lime been there a couple of years, right on the edge of my yard, I will soon move that to help dry out, I thought once spread. Attachments:
