Not as easy as you'd think to get a really nice shot of heather at it's peak. The NY Moors are one of the best places in the country to see big expanses from early August to about mid-September. I took this about three years ago in fact, but it is similar now - but not sunny ....

Stunning 4WD. Have you seen 'my' heather photo in the turkey chick thread, while I was practising getting a photo on here? OH actually snapped it, but not a landscape as yours is. The heather here started off brilliantly but got a bit wet lately which spoilt the look. I did find 3 plants of white heather while out walking, had to put a tiny sprig in my pocket

Oh yes, I was avoiding the chucks thread to date! I've never found white growing wild, must be unlucky.
There is a tradition to pick a sprig or two and attach it to front of your car for the same reason.(luck) This idea seems to have died out a bit lately, as much as anything I suspect because most cars don't have a grill at the front like they used too; never mind a mascot thing as was common in 60s and before.
