Blimey rgsp, I hope you didn't pay the brickie. :D No, it's been like that a very long while, and I'm not paying a brickie to take it all down and start again either. The end pillars are 16th century, maybe late 15th, but the really tatty stuff in the middle is 1960s. I suppose whoever had it built like that thought it would be "rustic".

Bought these on ebay (£14) to *posssibly* sit on the gable corners of the new shed - which is quite close to the kitchen window so little feature seemed worth considering. For now they are practicing looking fierce and grumpy over the stove.
