Bernie Ecclestone will not succeed with his attempts to bin the British Grand Prix. From a PR point of view it would damage F1 seriously. Britain is still the home of F1 every F1 team except Ferrari and Farce India are based here. All within spitting distance of Silverstone.
This is a poor attempt by Ecclestone to force the issue of access, traffic management, and permission from Silverstones owners, and local government officials who very nearly stopped this years Grand Prix on various silly technicalities.
Anyone who has been to Silverstone for the Grand Prix will tell you how poorly organised and mismanaged it is. Assuming of course they have been to a Grand Prix elsewhere. Even France (who have little interest as a country in F1) managed to organise a better GP than Britain in terms of infastructure and management and Ecclestone stop the French GP to give the UAE more leverage with their attempt to take ontrol of the sport.
I would be surprised if the British GP doesn't go ahead, but i do also believe that should Ecclestone succed in his attempts to stop the GP here we would end up with yet another GP in Spain (which has two already) simply because Ecclestone has so much money tied up in the Valencia mess.
In short, Ecclestone bad, F1 bad but getting better. Someone else needs to take control of F1's PR and advertising but Briatore should never get his hands on F1 as that would lead n short order to the end of the sport.
Lastly, Eddie Jordan (who has known Ecclestone longer than anyone else in F1) has said that all you can be sure of is if Bernie says there will be no British GP then there will undoutedly be one.
