Would a LA penicillin jab help? My crystal ball has gone cloudy, it can't be good.

Accidentally took this still an hour ago when chatting to contractor on wrapper next door - makes a cool video thumbnail for later.

Last rays of light at Rievaulx - shortly after 9pm, sun goes behind a hill relatively early down there.

When the last bloom is open the summer is all but over. A while to go yet

Thirsk this afternoon. I noticed more EU cars than normal, but less tour buses. It's a very touristy place with Herriot Centre still quite popular but a good filling up point before visiting the moors and coast or heading on north to Scotchland. Compared to some towns I could mention you rarely see a bit of litter, I did notice a large Fat Hen weed in the bedding

Lady's Bedstraw Whenever I try a shot like this it seems to focus on the wrong straggly bit.

Red clover field is alive with these, but it was too cool and windy for them so mainly sitting in the sun, by the hedge with more shelter. There are a lot of Painted Ladies too but they seem stronger fliers, and were hard to approach.

Bit breezy! I’ve seen a couple of peacock butterflies this year, no red admirals, but several painted ladies on budleja (sp?) bush in sheltered area.

Went down to the Whitby regatta Fair late yesterday, this is a funny ride to watch they always fall off eventually. Like those more vicious rodeo bulls from a few years back the best technique is like real bull riders, hold one arm up and behind you - it acts like a counter weight. Not that I've tried it on these but some do that and stay on longest.

The heather is really good this year, it had a bit of a rest in 2018 - I think a lot of buds fell off when it so dry until mid-July. Must try to get a few more shots, I want to fly the drone quite low along this slope. As you can see, like all moorland it's an environmental desert with no ecological value whatsoever (© Monbiot)
