Good Morning everyone . It's dry, it's bright and it's mild outside this morning. After a horrendous turnout yesterday where the simx calf jumped the paddock fence into a neighbours five acre garden of overgrown trees in the morning and then the oldest sussex calf disappeared entirely in the afternoon, much to his mum's consternation, only to be found in the middle of the hedge from whence he wouldn't move, I'm hoping when I go to check them shortly that they'll all still be there. The lambs have spent their first night out so I'm dreading checking them although I haven't seen any foxes about recently but I know there is a badger going through the fields. With everything out, I have quite an easy morning, so I am planning to fill the freezer and cupboards back up. Yuck! Busy afternoon planned when I have to get the stores down to the barn, so everything else will play musical fields, ready for loading at 6.30 tomorrow morning when their off to the market. Whatever your doing today, have a good day and stay safe.

Morning all, lovely sunny start to day here. We turned 10 cows and calves out on marsh yesterday, went reasonably well (better than your fun Stockslave). Now only got the young black and whites in and will start putting them out in small bunches this week if we get the chance. OH jury service is going into 3rd week apparently so me on my own here.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday, stay safe.

It's my birthday today so I got a cup of tea in bed from DH which is a very rare thing. He put in double sugar though cos he got confused so I couldn't drink it but it's the thought that counts eh? Nothing special planned but I fancy a trip to the seaside if I can drag him away from the F1. I may be going on my own though.

Morning - or afternoon - all!! Been very busy as son and heir been here for weekend - gone back to London now... We blitzed the garden all yesterday - he strimmed and mowed and I weeded and it looks so much better, although still loads to do. Starting washing show heifers today in prep for Devon County. May not be taking my favourite as she's looking a bit light - has really grown up these last few weeks and looks like all her energy has gone into height but we've two others in same class, so spoilt for choice! Beautiful day here... hope it's the same where you are.

Off to a bad start here. Lost the first calf of the season, it was about half size so must have been too early. Had a set of twins early so maybe will have some luck there. Too much rain, need to be planting beans.

Sunday nearly over now, but a nice day. Pity I was not outside to enjoy it. Putting holiday cottage back together after a run of hooligans. Broken LCD TV (Only 7 weeks old), replaced, under counter towel rail (replaced) lampshade squashed (replaced) - and that was just the two year old. The others had been throwing trainers(?) up the stairs onto a white wall, so a paint job. What is the matter with kids today? are parents afriad to say 'no'? Repaired snooker table pockets, so instead of being in the sun, I was screwed up in a knot under the thing, stapling the nets back on.
Silage this week, we think. Maybe. Glued to the weather forecast. And two lots of visitors coming. And cows calving everywhere. The bulls must have been busy last July / August. Can't bear to watch that Countryfile thing. Having sat up all night sometimes, tending sick cattle, I'll need rubber brick for Craven's smug face. And I can't afford another TV !
Happy birthday Cidergirl. hope it was a good one.
