Will hopefully be at both, lets hope both aren't hit by the weather again, Woolsery last year had to change everything around the day before the show because the ground was so wet.

Oh yes, I remember last year at Woolsery all right - came down that hill, turned right as came into showground past the parade ring, down the hill and I had just one chance to keep going between another vehicle and a tent without stopping and getting bogged down and/or slewing my rig into Hasty's lorry. I can still see everyone's faces gawping at me and I must have looked terrified!!
Made it though! And got a round of applause !!

Back from Mid Devon, absolutely knackered but well pleased, 3rd with my big ram, 4th with my trimmed ram lamb & 5th with my untrimmed ram lamb who behaved like a pig really misbehaved & would not relax so looked like s**t, but as I did not expect any rosettes I'm well pleased. Didn't catch up with you, sorry Jules, could see the cattle but didn't get over there, how did you do.

Well done Rose - those sheep classes looked very hot and the class well filled. Sorry I didn't get over either but we didn't even get into our ring til gone midday, as we had to follow the Dexters... less said about those, the better! So by the tiome we'd finished and had lunch, it was parade time - didn't even get much of a chance to look round the show.
Anyway, as I said yesterday, no 2009 classes for us, so the four heifers went into the ring in the 2008 and younger class - there were about 8 forward - and we all knew we were competing for second place, as Dazzle was present - she's won several Breed Championships this year and rightly so. Our judge (who was changed at last minute) pulled Dazzle first and I got second with Empress, so I was well chuffed with that, I can tell you! Julie Rooks-Haste was third with Delightful and Phil fourth with Ermintrude, so not a bad effort for us! Over a year's difference in age between our heifers and the other two. Haste's bull Dash took the Championship with Dazzle reserve. Annoyingly, no best bred by exhibitor at Mid Devon, otherwise we'd have picked that trophy up!
Then I took Enzo in to the all aged bull class - only three forward and the other two are big, mature bulls, one was Reserve Champion at the Royal Welsh last week and t'other the Haste's Dash, who has been picking up Championships regularly, so no surprise we were third - he looked so little compared to those two but judge was very pleased with him all the same and both he and Empress qualified for the Junior Interbreed. Phil took Enzo and I freely admit the calf goes better for him than me, so he can do him from now on! Phil was told by the judge that if my heifer had moved better, she would have been fighting it out with top five but I had forgotten to put her bulldog in and she pratted about - duh... serve me right - what a novice! However, judge pulled Enzo out into fifth - he looked so funny, as of course he was giving up to nine months away and was by far the smallest in the whole class but he did very well to place - must have been about 20 or more in the class!
So we had an excellent day, Show's only 20 minutes away and so cattle were home and washed early evening and fed and settled. No prolems while were away, either, result!

Back from Woolsery, lovely day & managed to catch up with Jules or rather she caught up with me, cattle ring was right next to our pens, excellent show of Blues. Came home with 2 1sts, a 2nd, 2 3rds, & 2 4ths & Res Champion, so excellent show, of course would have liked the Champion but the ram lamb was nice that won it. Woolsery is a lovely show, very laid back & a proper agricultural show.
