Title: SHEEP KILLED BY DOG
2 sheep were killed, a further 5 destroyed as a result of injuries and a further 2 unlikely to survive after a dog attack in the Ansty area. This took place between 8am Friday 25th and 9am Saturday 26th. Cost to the farmer is estimated in excess of £1000.
It is certain that the owner of the dog either witnessed the attack or would have been aware of their animal being covered in blood. It is likely that the dog will attack again.
It will soon be lambing season and owners of dog are asked to keep them on a lead when near any livestock. Farmers may destroy animals caught attacking sheep or other livestock. Police will prosecute owners of any dogs caught worrying sheep.
Any witnesses or the owner of the dog are asked to contact Sussex police on 0845 6070999 and quote serial 0813 26/02/11.

Title: THEFT OF CHAINSAWS
Between 7pm on Friday and 9.40am Saturday a shipping container was broken into and 9 chainsaws stolen. This took place in the West Hoathly area. Considerable force was used to peel back a substantial metal shield which was protecting the padlock.
Shipping containers are an idea way of protecting equipment, however these are only as good as the locks fitted, and it is recommended that locks are supported by an alarm, especially when containers are sighted well away from offices and dwellings. When sighting a container, remember that it will indicate that there is attractive equipment contained within. Always sight storage away from those you do not want to see it!!!
If you have any information regarding this incident, then contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 and quote serial 0496 05/03/11.
