I wanted a new wind screen for my replica morgan car, tried one of the big windscreen firms, yes they could make me one but it would have to be done at their specialist dept in Manchester(I'm in Sussex)and I would have to agree to paying if they broke the glass while putting it into the frame ???The cost would be in the region of £300.00 Thank you very much will think about it. Phoned nearest glass works and asked if they did laminated safety glass and could cut it to size, yes mate what do you want it for,a car I replied, thats OK,bring it down and I will get it cut and fitted in a couple of days will cost you £30.00 for the glass and £25.00 to fit Brilliant job done,no more goggles and saved £245.00 ;D

Yup. A few phone calls can save you a packet - provided the right info is given in the first place Our wheel digger (4wd Ford) needed a new battery today so rang dealer first (for name rank and number required) then several bigger suppliers, using dealer info. + make/model. Dealer was in line so OH drove 25 miles to collect, fortunately taking the old battery along to compare. The one he'd been quoted for was about one third the size needed Maybe would have fitted a lawn tractor? The one we wanted needed two people to carry it - and was 2x as expensive. By that time OH was past caring (and past dinner time) so paid up and came home to fit it - and dig. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

Definitely pays to shop around but also beware of non genuine parts. Many look identical but are of much poorer quality as I found out with some trackrod ends for my JD when we were busy at the silage about a month ago
