Callicarpa bodinieri. Berries rather than flowers, but spectacular little things anyway Chaemonanthus Praecox. Quite nice little flowers, but very strongly scented. Cyclamen Coum (and nettles) This is just a freakishly early one, there will be hundreds soon. Viburnum Bodnantense. Named this one wrongly originally. We have a few of these, and they appear to be tough as old boots under our conditions, despite their reputation. The shrub emits very strong wafts of scent every so often. Heleborus Niger. Several more of these have come out since I took this shot. The newer varieties hold their flowers more upright, which allows us to admire them much more easily. Iris Foetidissima. Not flowers at all, but fine fruit at this time of year, and the plants don't actually stink at all. Mahonia. Lots of cheerful yellow flower, and not so scruffy with old flowers as some years. Rosemary, handily just outside the back door for nicking bits off when cooking lamb. Ours has a few flowers on if you look for them almost all year. . Snowflakes. A bit like snowdrops, but a completely different species, which grow like weeds in the heavy clay soil of our wood. Snowdrop. This wasn't the only one out, but I made a mess of photographing the others. Gorse. This one's a slight cheat, because I forgot it was there at the time, and took it yesterday.

Thankyou for those, RGSP - gives me some winter garden ideas. I've always thought Mahonia a scruffy uninteresting bush, but haven't seen it this time of year before and am quite impressed by how pretty it is in flower - there was even a hive bee on it the other mild day

Ah, I planted a couple of callicarpas several years ago - thought they'd given up the ghost but a couple of years ago, they started to flower and then sport those amaziing berries - such a fab colour!! Lovely photos, rgsp.
Saw snowdrops and some primroses out by the Church yesterday. Must go up on the hill to see in prims are out there yet - earliest I ever saw themw as January 17th a few years ago now but would think this year will be as early if no frosts!

These and a straggle of wallflowers haven't stopped since September. They won't be happy if buried under snow for long though
