One of the high points of the year is when these birds return for the Summer, they really liven up the place at a time when there are few or no cattle in the buildings. Equally I hate to see them leave, and despite the weather the farm Swallows have done really well. The end of August saw several 2nd broods leave their nests.
We don't have any House Martins nest on the farm, but the first week of September saw this lot turn up an stay for several days (that's if they were always the same ones)

Lovely vids, Daveb - there seems to have been quite a few swallows swooping around here all summer, don't know where they nested though.

They seemed to have left here yesterday, might still be odd ones around if it turns warmer again. Also I saw several skeins of geese heading south at high altitude (and honking).
