He's even put the proper smileys back but they aren't as good as here obviously. Good, I won't have to keep guessing them! There's some crackers on here though

I think everyone tends initially to believe what you are told, unless proved to be total bull s$$t. But this posting on TFF more than rattled me. It was on thread asking where members were: "Perhaps something to do with the advert for this forum at the top of google when you searched "British Farming Forum" saying "We have moved and are now back better than ever" Hardly a surprise that people are confused.
I did start a thread about it yesterday but strangely it disappeared within 10 minutes of me pressing return". So much for the light handed moderation policy ::[/[/color]i] That wasn't anything but a smoke screen of misdirection. I'm out.

Me too, I naively joined in the gap before bff came back, when it was unclear whether it would return even, I dont facebook or twitter or anything so was unsure, and because sadly I am ashamed to admit I was in need of a forum fix, once it was back I can see we were all rather hoodwinked and it was all rather cold and calculating, made to mirror the old site as closely as possible, thats because I later read in a post that was removed this new site had been ready and waiting in the wings for months, very handy, and they had been trying to buy bff. I believe there are many that joined in a rush and are now starting to twig, that things are not as they seem, I suppose many wont care. Sad really as its the genuine who come seeking help and advice who will suffer as the knowledge is no longer concentrated in one place. Seems like greed and ego has spoiled it for all.

I'm a member too, joined because it was not clear how long BFF would be down, it is increasingly looking like a playground for Grumpy. The paid-for advert appearing at the top of google results claiming to be the "BFF moved" is a bit naughty, and I see some members think it is BFF and are confused! In the actual results there is no mention until page four last time I looked, and that was a link to a thread about BFF.

I would like to point out that FD did open a serious farming board in the interim for those that needed a farming fix. This will now be deleted but should anything ever arise in the future, it will be re-instated until BFF, the mothership is up and running.

I did note the serious farming board on here and I hope you didn't take my post as a slight on this forums efforts, I would never criticise. Its a shame that more BFF regulars didn't make use of here. I'm guessing many link here through the BFF page and could not find it simply googling farming forum or etc. I must admit when I saw 4wd and other mods had joined the new place it did seem like the end of the road had come for BFF. I can see why many are peeved at being unable to join, I too had difficulties with a paid email first time round, and received no reply from admin email address circa 2009 and then managed to join after some kind of crash when they were accepting any email address. Hopefully it will gain many new members this time similarly, or perhaps the administration will be delegated between the moderators if it is too time consuming. But alas the man that owns it does with it as he sees fit and it is none of my business ultimately. I must admit personally I didn't enjoy the forum that much over the last year, whether that was lack of new blood or just me myself changing, but there is only a finite amount of topics I suppose before one becomes bored, and also I think many are put off when a few big posters dominate. So a shake up is good to my mind. At least from what I have seen everything at the BFF end is dignified. If the other place is about offering 'alternative choice' why did it not open up before along side bff or wait until it was back on its feet a bit more. Some things are just not cricket. Its very interesting how much feelings it has stirred, I usually never want to get involved or comment on matters, personally I never thought I would be that bothered about a website and a bunch of people that I would never meet that I would feel the urge to visit everyday, but I do. Strange isn't it.

I too joined over there, Marshboy, as was missing BFF and wouldn't have blamed Blue if he'd said 'sod it all'. Even though I didn't post all that often on it I do consider it the 'mothership' of FD, and I'm glad the 'real British' FF is back. I hope Greysides finds his way back to BFF because that makes it an even better resource for livestock keepers. You make some good points above and certainly no offence taken in my quarter. Just hope FD can give folks some lighter moments etc in a reasonably safe environment

I think TFF could be a blessing in taking a different type of posters away to a forum of their taste ,leaving the rest of us in quieter enviroment.Personally I hope BFF does not grow back to the size it was ,post numbers as aposed to content. This idea that 2 forums cant work is absalute bumkum as this forum proves as does LM`s & the Irish forum. Although things are not quite up to speed yet on BFF I can not rember it being as civil and good sprited as it is at the moment for a long time ,even in the machinery section .It is only natural that over a coarse of time that people can run out of things to say especialy if you dont want to repeat themselves, perhaps some new blood who are hopfully able log in easier now will bring something new and possibly feel more comfortable in this present enviroment.
I expect we will be branded as snobs over time.

I expect we will be branded as snobs over time. Electronic ear tags rather than branding don't you think? I've felt for some years that it would be poetic justice for Margaret Becket to equip her with a pair of ear tags, and if I suddenly find I have a terminal and incurable disease, I must just get the tagging pliers out.

I expect we will be branded as snobs over time. Possibly, for a while - this FD one was called the genteel forum for a while, then a couple of slightly naughties arrived and lowered the tone in certain threads - only teasing dears, you brighten the place up
