320 Gigapixel image of London taken from the BT tower. I find it quite depressing viewing, yet strangely compelling. btlondon2012.co.uk/pano.html

I have seen it before but like you find it really interesting and can easily lose a lot of time nosing around.
I don't mind London for a day or two at a time....
I have been recording and watching 'The secret history of our streets' on the 'Yesterday' channel recently (still a couple to see) - Worth a look if you get the chance to see it, particularly the Caledonian Road episode (3)

One thing that struck me - the little pop-up as the page opens - 'Keep an eye out for Buzby' I just wondered if younger people even know what 'Buzby' is? Wikipedia says that Buzby was first used in a campaign in 1976!! quote: Buzby was a yellow (later orange) talking cartoon bird, launched in 1976 as part of a marketing campaign by Post Office Telecommunications, which later became British Telecommunications (BT). Buzby appeared in a series of television commercials with the catchphrase: "Make someone happy with a phone call". Buzby's voice was provided by Bernard Cribbins. The campaign spawned many marketing items, such as toys, badges, a comic strip in "TV Comic", and books, and lasted until well into the 1980s. British Telecom produced & sold a "Buzby" wrist watch with Buzby perched on the second hand. The watch had a blue strap. So unemployed since the 1980's..... and dragged back into use for 2012 I found two.... anybody found the third one?

Out of the centre there are still the relics of the old villages - even now some still have a village feel to them if you stay and walk around.... though I wouldn't like to try all of them!

We once explored along the south bank upstream from Tower Bridge and were struck by how un-busy it seemed (it was Sunday afternoon) The traffic could hardly be seen or heard, and we had a bar meal outside at a pub where the staff and other customers were no less friendly and chatty than anywhere round here.

I've used the Metro system in Newcastle a few times, but nothing prepares you for "The Tube"!!! There's some weird folk on there!

Alternatively, and possibly equally accurate:
