You almost always get holes under snow patches in spring/early summer where they cross streams, but those ones are bigger and more spectacular than than any I've seen.
The bottoms of crevasses in glaciers are also spectacular in a somewhat different way: some of them towards the tongue of a glacier do open out and go flat at the base, though as you might expect, the majority just taper steadily to nothing (which is often the bit that causes nasty injuries and makes getting people out difficult.)

Those last patches of snow do seem to always take a long time to disappear! Quite unusual!
