And a very strange Iron object currently being identified, (if anyone knows please shout) Could it be something to enable 2 pails to be carried in one hand? Thought of you when the TV news came on showing another coin find recently

Ha ha no Im not a star just yet but I'm working on it.
yes that's a possibility, I'ts being suggested its a letterbox door knocker, or part of a Roman standard, but I don't know,I'm thinking letterbox door knocker but it doesn't look right so I'll keep at it. Its a great time of year for metal detectorist because with the harvests comes new ploughed land, just the right conditions for finding treasure. If anyone would like me to have a look let me know or if you fancy a go yourself let me know I have a spare detector, honestly it's very addictive and great fun and when you find something its very rewarding and the prospect of holding something for the first time in hundreds if not thousands of years ago is very strange. I get sad sometimes because if I find a coin, I think, some poor person probably dropped it and it could have been the equivalent to a weeks wages for them. What every happened to them. So thought provoking.

There used to be some similar looking designs on a pair of very old cast iron bed ends - head and foot boards.
