I've discovered what this is with some local help but it's a strange one to find growing here. However (clue) it was in a field reseeded at Spring so probably arrived in that. If you know what it is you may know why it's probably a good one to be aware of.

Nope, I thought it resembled a fig plant but don't think that's a relative. Have been looking for it on google and really is quite a nasty one which needs removing.

Thorn apples really are quite nasty. I've seen a couple growing, but not on our holding I'm glad to say.
