A good way to get a bit extra cash by the North York Moors National Park team. They are selling 20 of the original park boundary signs on Ebay and all funds raised will go towards 'rights of way work' on footpaths and bridleways. It looks like they may have a tidy sum by the time the auctions finish!! goo.gl/t2iCAi

That came on my twitter feed, they started the cast iron ones at £100 which seemed a lot but they are now £300 plus! There are still signs as you enter, after a while you don't notice them, must try to look if they are redesigned. The cast ones probably had a 'weigh' of disappearing

Given that my mother's side of the family: grandfather and countless great uncles, were all engine drivers, I have an awareness of steam locomotives, and know that name plates regularly change hands for sums around £1,000, and sometimes 10s of thousands. That's quite odd enough, but paying hundreds of pounds for a fairly common national park sign seems very odd indeed.

The metal ones do have a certain charm but even if I wanted one £20 would be the upper limit.

Judging by the figures quoted by rgsp, perhaps you should have 'weighed' up the pros & cons before 4wd.....

Probably enough there to replace the trailer they had stolen last week

Anyone seen that trailer going around collecting scrap? Any distinguishing marks?
