I can't see any reason to assume those who have had it won't have years of immunity or at least be able to deal with any variants very easily and only notice mild symptoms.

Well that may be true, but bodily defence mechanisms are quite varied and complex, and while resistance to some pathogens lasts a lifetime, with others it only lasts a few months - I think you can re-infect with Blackwater Fever in 3 months occasionally, and Yellow Fever is similar but rarely re-infects within 6 months.

SARS-COV-2 vaccinators seem to be on a mission to jab the 'list' in front of them, regardless of status. Which I find odd. They certainly ask if you have any current symptoms of disease like a cough or temperature, but not the most obvious one - have you already had it? And if so, when. And was diagnosis confirmed by any tests.
With this disease and with its variants appearing regularly, I expect it'll be like a flu jab. Annual with three types included. But at the moment they really don't know the immunity status of people who have already had it, possibly asymptomatically.
