Good Morning everyone . It's overcast here, but mild and it seems we have had a very slight shower overnight. A quiet night on the lamb front after two more sets of assisted twins yesterday. Two thirds of the way through now, so the end is in sight. Whatever your doing today, have a good day and stay safe.

Morning Stockslave, Oxenboy, everyone, dull here threatening rain, one lamb born is the sum total of overnight. Know what you mean oxenboy, my OH was watching cow calving the other day all seemed to be going well he came indoors for about 5 minutes, went back out and it was dead, could just kick yourself, sometimes I just think its meant to be. Meant to be turning more mares out today, they really need the grass now. Will keep one back that looks like she could foal any second, but she would probably be happier out. Job to know what to do for best. Hope you all have a safe happy day

Morning,
It's bloomin cold for May!
I see I'm not the only one with losses.
I helped one of my favourite cows calve on Friday, it seemed fine, looked back an hour later and the calf was dead, it appears that she lay down on top of its head judging by the squashed appearance.
Gave her another twin calf.
Then yesterday another cow had a large calf and a few moments later proceeded to push her womb out. Called the Vet, who came in half an hour, she died just as he arrived, says it must have burst a major artery.
Oh well, where there's stock...

Good afternoon all....got up at 5am to check everything and went back to bed when satisfied AOK. Very tired today - probably the shock of 3 of my ewes having twins yesterday, [1 had a single the evening before] when there's only 8 lambing this year. Of course they waited for the rain and cold wind, but were in the shed anyway. The one I just knew would cause trouble did - had to get help to extricate 2 very large, boney, skinny lambs..... which seem lively enough today thank goodness. Even the other 2 had a boy each with a leg back, girls behaved and got themselves out safely. Sorry about the losses of calves oxenboy, Heather and Alex and your cow also Alex - a real bummer. Joyce
