I have only voted Labour and Conservative in the past. So next election I was thinking of giving the Lib-Dems a vote. Does anyone know if they have any nasty tricks up their sleeve?

Depends on the area where you live whether voting Lib Dem is any good, if they are the 3rd party then whats the point you won't vote out the sitting MP, you would have to tactically vote for the 2nd party.
A trained monkey could be put up as the candidate for a certain party for our area and still get into Parliament. Hang on mo maybe it was a trained monkey at the last election.
Doesn't matter who gets into power the establishment ie civil servants are the ones that make a lot of the decisions and tell mp's what they can and can't do when it comes to making laws up.

I did think about UKIP too, but thought it might only count as a protest vote. Lately Lib-Dems have got the credit for seeing all the trouble that was brewing with the economy long before it happened. So I thought the public may be more inclined to give them a chance. My political knowledge mainly comes from ITN news, Tom Bradbury sums things up quick and simple. I will have to listen to what he says nearer to the election.

vote for who you want to. To say that voting Lib Dem is a wasted vote is nonsense, they won't get in if you don't vote for them.
Polititions look at the poles all the time, and even if your prefered team don't win, if they are close enough behind it will have an effect.

I have only voted Labour and Conservative in the past. So next election I was thinking of giving the Lib-Dems a vote. Does anyone know if they have any nasty tricks up their sleeve? Not wishing to offend, but you really need a brain transplant to consider voting for that shower. They are in favour of handing over far more powers to Europe than we already have. (And that is far too many) A couple of years ago, they were all in favour of raising taxes to pay for more public services; now they say that they are against tax rises, and wish to cut taxes. The whole ethos of the Liberal Democrats hangs on them being able to persuade Labour voters in Conservative areas to switch their vote to them, and Conservative voters in Labour areas to do likewise. I don't know where you live, but wait for a Lib Dem leaflet which says: 'Labour/ Conservatives cannot win here. Only the Lib Dems can beat Labour/ Conservatives' here. Believe me, i have seen it all before. It is so easy to promise anything (as the Lib Dems do) when they know that they will never have to carry out their ridiculous promises. They are an irresponsible shower. In Cambridgeshire, when (once) they flukily won control of the County Council (in partnership with Labour, who were the junior member) it ended with the Council being put into 'special measures' by the Government, so lamentably had the Lib Dems ruled. Also, a few short years ago, the Lib Dems led South Cambs District Council for one year. During that time, they wanted to put council tax up 100% (yes, 100%) and at the end of the year a Government inspector was called in because the Council was in such a mess. Since then the Conservatives have taken over what was described by the Government Inspector as a 'Failing' Council, and turned it round to being a 'Markedly improved' Council. I make no bones about being a Conservative voter all my life; but whatever you do, Wulvo, please dont vote for the Lib Dems. Vote Labour rather than them. At least Labour is an honourable party, with great traditions and ideals (even if i don't agree with them). The Lib Dems are nothing but a bunch of opportunists who couldn't run a p**s up in a brewery!

Good to get an unbiased opinion ColtheOx. ;D I do tend to agree with every word though ........ apart from the bit about labour being an "honourable" party. I think that went out of the window when the spin doctors moved in en masse.

Rest easy CtO, I shall not vote Lib-Dem now. I live on the county boundary between Staffs County Council (Con), and Wolverhampton City Council (Lab). Our council tax is lower but because we are a more rural community we have to beg and plead for basics like road repairs. In the city it is higher council tax, but they seem to get better facilities. Though as said previously with current finances that could all change.

The Lib Dems have one very strong card....
...his name is Vince Cable. I haven't seen anyone in politics talk so much sense in recent times.
From a farming point of view:
Labour - no
Conservative - natural allies, however, I think DCs green credentials are simply going to increase costs on an energy consuming industry without any actual benefit. All spin in my view.
Lib Dem - Again not an ideal farming ally. Especially from a taxation point of view. Also I think we would be made into glorified park keepers. Even more so than the current system.
On balance I will go with DC simply because I think they will result in the least amount of change, which will be the best for maintaining what is left of government support for ag. I don't think DC will have the balls to bring in all of the green measures that he talked so much of 18months ago.
If Vince cable was a conservative then the party would be unstoppable.

It has to be UKIP for me - it's the only lot that will take us out of this bloody EU con. We are paying out £40 million a day for what? Laws we don't want, Immigrants we don't want and diktats from Brussels we don't want. There is nothing wrong with free trade across Europe, I'm all in favour of that but NOT a free gravy train for a few MEP's and massive taxes to pay for it all. And remember, with all these eastern Europe countries coming in, we will have to pay out much more in the future so, the party that says lets get out gets my vote!!!
