Sent the rubbish in in posts 11 12 13 (not the cow and calf) 900- 1000 they made, naturally all the good ones went early on when prices were low and now have nothing else to sell.

Well done on the prices Marshboy, but isn't that typical, with prices on the up, I'm kicking myself for selling off the black and whites at a disasterous price in the autumn.

No, I've decided there's too much input into the black and whites and with prices being so volatile it's not worth it, so I'm just going to stick with my sucklers at the moment.

Next Friday I've two big Friesian bullocks to go, it will be interesting to see how they do. Rather average types but are almost 20months so big enough and will weigh. Have been taking Sims and Lims as stores so far, about 18months old and they are generally round £800

Have you ever tried Newark? They like the b/w's up there (down there for some) Cant be too far away from finishing at 800 prices really jumped quick the last two weeks.

He's grown on a bit, should be bigger tho, was going to wean him but being an odd one out I have nothing his age to put him with, so he can have a few months out Tried to let another ten go yesterday and they didnt want to so i thought sod ya and went back setting spuds. I will get some more one day. I always say it all comes right in the end and it has this year, getting them out a month early when I had no straw or anything left. Attachments:

You must be going to miss them tho, i only reared a few over the last few years, and left them whole, but they are so friendly and such little characters compared to the suckled ones. I suppose because I have them in a pen in the middle of my yard and walk past them 99 times a day and they always have their heads through barrier looking for a scratch that i see them differently.

I shall certainly miss them, which is why I carried on longer than I should have, but last autumns sale was the straw that broke the camel's back.....I might have been tempted to carry on otherwise. All my animals are pretty hands on and my sucklers are no exception, a few of them are halter trained and they all love a scritch. The one thing I won't miss, is the accumulation of black bruises everywhere, where the bucket babes butted me about.....I'm not as thick skinned as their biological mother ;D

That's a beautiful head shot, great I know exactly what you mean about reading the ear tags, I've a couple where you have to dig through the ear hair to find them. I think you may be right about that cow being in calf, she's hooooge
