This morning : Closer: The last week ( and the week in the forecast) we have had either rain or snow all days but one. I put some cornstalk bales out to give the calves, cows that have calved and the yearlings a place to lie down. Grass is very late this year, although I think the drought may be lessening.

Some of our hooligans. Their fighting bust the gate, which is now at a precarious angle. Roll on turnout. This is Pilot. His mum calved again yesterday. Another couple 'having a go'.

I did say we'd got cows and calves tucked in everywhere, didn't I? This is the back of the empty silage barn - home to 7 + 7.

Little and large: The small one is an heifer and was born about 4 days before time, the larger one is bull 12 days overdue, both about 8 days old. Both same bull = Conan (limousin from Genus)

Probably one of the best calves this year, but he was born in December. There are two rather younger ones by same bull will run him close by Autumn.
