Lovely animals and photos, Matt and 4wd. I really must get in the mood to make some more jigsaws for those long winter nights

I am so glad you still have a cow with an unweaned 18mo....!! We also have to own up to one of ours, N. Asset having same - and hers isn't even her own genetic calf - that died and she took on a BBx ex the dairy herd and it's still on her and she is in fact 20 months old.... She's going to be a recip next!

First lot of cattle brought in today for the Winter, Scruffy looking lot, but it's not been a good Summer for them. Going to get some of the cows in with their Spring born calves tomorrow and do some separating, then we'll get some noise.

Look quite a nice even bunch anyway. Mine were similarly rough looking and not as big as usual, really haven't done too well with being hardly able to find a dry place to lie, and grass quality seems to be poor. They soon looked better inside after being wormed and getting properly dry at last.

Yes, hopefully they will all improve with being inside, we got 20 cows in with their Spring born calves today and those calves look poor, not done at all well. We are holding off with the worming and BVD boosts till after the annual TB test in 11 days time, something else to look forward to.

Good and not so good. This nice bull calf was born last Sunday morning. The not so good is that mum tested as an I.R. at the T.B. test last Thursday, so will have to wait 60 days to see what her fate will be. The rest of the herd passed ok, and this cow was the only one to throw a spanner in the works last year.
